Natural Gems of Ceylon specialise in exquisite rare gems, carefully and sustainably sourced in Ceylon. We offer handmade jewellery crafted by our goldsmiths to create a piece of jewellery that is a unique to you. We chose hand making our products over mass production to provide our customers with the highest quality finishes plus that extra sentimental touch which each piece of handmade jewellery offers.
It started out as a hobby for Chameera collecting and learning about the precious stones of his home country, Sri Lanka when Chameera noticed a vast amount of interest in his gems by locals and tourists alike, and he began to sell his collection to allow the beauty of the stones to be shared with the world. We are now a family run business combining Chameera’s trained eye and passion for sourcing gemstones with Sinéad bringing her creative feminine touch to help create a unique piece of jewellery.

From the beginning it was important to us to ensure that each gemstone was traceable & ethically sourced. With our owner being Sri Lankan himself, we are in the position to be well connected with the local trade. We drive hours on the island of Sri Lanka to speak directly with miners allowing us to trace each stone to it’s source & carefully hand select each gemstone that you see listed in our shop. We have a handful of miners with whom we work with, which allows us to ensure that our products are not only ethically sourced, but ensure the upkeep of quality within our gemstones.

This purchase was for a custom designed chain. However, I would also like to speak of the pendant (separate purchase) the seller designed for me in close partnership. Working off my descriptions and rough sketches, as well as sapphires purchased from this store, they dedicated extensive time to create a heirloom in accordance with my extremely exacting specifications, coordinating with jewelers to form a bespoke fitting and to secure diamonds and pearls. Communications was always exceptionally considerate and thorough. I had a sapphire purchased earlier from this seller confirmed as authentic natural corundum by a GIA-certified expert in the states, and it checked out. The sapphires are more lovely in person than photos can convey. This seller strives for customer satisfaction and builds an excellent working relationship!
